There several different designs showcased on this site. By design, we are referring to the way the shells are strung together. The Herringbone design is the traditional Hawaiian custom for leis. The Herringbone strand pieces all use Puka shell clasps.
The Loom design is also an original technique. The shells are woven on a small loom. The clasping strands are braided and secured with Puka shell clasps.
